Automotive Interface Design for 2020

In 2020 we’ll have cars that will take care of most of the driving themselves. The vehicles will communicate with each other to avoid traffic jams or accidents, thus vastly enhancing the safety of all road users. The downside? Bored motorists behind the wheel.

As a result, in-car entertainment will become increasingly important. Communication, audio, video and traffic signals will be beamed to the car via wireless data transmission. This will bring new devices – and new interfaces – into our lives.
Our present and future data streams served as prototypes for the design and graphic interface of our Stream Study. This vector-oriented screen layout was designed with Illustrator and can be adapted to a variety of different display resolutions. Interaction was implemented with Flash.
A range of different skinnings – with an exclusive, robust or conservative look & feel respectively – are available for different automotive configurations.
