Pixador GbR

Logo for an interactive design agency
Art Direction and design: Christof Bobzin and Christoph Grüder
Year: 2004

For this new agency we were asked to create a new company name and logo. We took the elements “Picador” (a Spanish word denoting the lance-bearer in a bullfight), “Pixel”, “d’or” (French: golden) and the English word “adore” and fused them together to create the evocative name “Pixador”.

The typography of the logo is strongly influenced by the first sans-serif linear Antique fonts designed by the British typographers Edward Johnston and Eric Gill, whose modern interpretations harked back to the proportions of Renaissance Antiqua scripts. The proportions for the logo were inspired by the French Renaissance Antiqua »Bembo« from the 15th century. The resulting font is a »Bembo Sans«.
